VIRTUS II
Old Holland Oil on Birch Panel
40" x 30" x 2"
This is the only Portrait I have ever done since graduating Colorado Mesa University. This work is a portrait of my wife. The title of this work is "Virtus II" Latin for (Virtue, strength, worth, capacity and quality) which all these words and more such as beauty ,fit my wonderful wife Rose Marie Garcia-Shiflett. I was inspired by Frida Kahlo's work in portraiture . My wife also Hispanic has been a support in all of my painting endeavors and she is my strength.

Frida Kahlo was an iconic Mexican painter as her work was inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico. Born: July 6,1907, Coyoacán, Mexico City, Mexico and Died: July 13, 1954, Coyoacán, Mexico City, Mexico
